Hi my name is Heather. I have a passion for teaching the skills to be comfortable walking, hiking in the outdoors, planning routes, understanding where you are and how to navigate to where you want to go. I can also advise on what kit you would need and what to take with you for day walks or camping trips, including wild camping.
I am a qualified Mountain Leader, Hill and Moorland Leader and Expedition Skills based in Berkshire; an area never far from somewhere nice to walk such as the Chilterns, Surrey Hills, South Downs, North Downs, Wessex Hills or New Forest, South Wales. We can also venture further afield into the Mountains anywhere in the UK. In my previous career as a chemistry teacher, I volunteered for several years as a Duke of Edinburgh's leader, supervisor and assessor to gold level. I now work as a self-employed and freelance Mountain Leader.
I can provide lead walks on lowland, moorland and mountain terrain, wild camping experiences, short day navigation courses, National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) courses, and Lowland Leader Training and Assessment (a NGB course from Mountain Training) as individuals or for groups. All accessible from London by train.
