Wildheather; a passion for teaching the skills to hike, use maps, plan routes, and navigate with confidence. Your learning can be extended with compass use, map knowledge, contours and land features.  Advise will be given on kit required; for day walks or camping trips, including wild camping

I am an approved provider of the Mountain Training NGB Lowland Leader award and Expedition Module https://www.mountain-training.org/help/resources/infographics. I am also a approved provider for the National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) as a course director and NNAS tutor award.  I can also provide individual and group navigation training. Wildheather is committed to enabling clients to improve their outdoor skill set in an nurturing, safe and fun environment.  Teaching methods follow the Countryside Code and Leave No Trace (LNT) ethos

We are a zero waste business and work with ReWorked using their plastic recycling scheme for difficult to recyclable items.  Wildheather is a supporter of Surfers against Sewage as a Plastic Free Champion

I am a qualified Mountain Leader and teacher (QTS in Chemistry) based in East Berkshire, an outdoor instructor and freelance Mountain Leader.

Lowland Leader

I run courses around London, areas such as Marlow, Henley, Chesham, The Ashridge estate and Box Hill contact me to discuss booking.  If you would like to book a different date as an individual or you have four or more candidates; I can arrange a time and area to suit you. 
Training:  5-6 November 2021, 4-5 March 2022 and 27-28 May 2022
Assessment: 27-28 October 2021, 3-4 December 2021and 1-2 April 2022

Expedition Module is a camping course add-on for the Lowland Leader award.   Please ask me for details, courses will be running west of Marlow. 
One course up at the moment 29-30 October 2021.

NNAS Courses

Wildheather provides three NNAS courses; Bronze, Silver and the NNAS Tutor award.  From the basics to improvers, to those would like to teach navigation themselves, we can discuss training to suit your needs. 

Challenge yourself to complete a National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) course. Here are some suggested dates below or contact me for a date which suits you.  

Bronze in the Marlow area
Silver in the Hambleden, Oxon area

Navigation workshops

I have one to one clients, small groups and families (for example with children taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh award). A family friendly day. Contact me for more details.

From the basics to improvers.  Training can be taylored to your requirements, here are some suggestions:
